Kooima Company was founded in 1988 as a stamping job shop, owned by John and Phil Kooima, a father/son partnership. In October 1993, Kooima Company installed its first laser cutter. Since then, Kooima Company has specialized in laser cutting steel parts for other manufacturers, as well as manufacturing and selling its own line of parts for large agricultural machinery. The business has grown from a small building with 16,000 sq. feet, to a large plant with almost 300,000 sq. feet of production and warehouse space. It has become the Midwest’s premier laser-cutting job shop.
In December 2019, the portion of the company that makes parts for other manufacturers was split off and purchased by a partnership of two steel distribution companies. This new entity was renamed Kooima Company, LLC. We continue to occupy the same building, located in Rock Valley, Iowa. The company currently has over 125 employees. We supply laser cut and formed steel parts for a variety of industries – including the agriculture, construction, lawn care, tool, utility, trailer, health care, and furniture industries.
